May 3rd, 2015 To Windhoek

May 3rd, 2015

12AM One of the young barman took me to his friend, who I met earlier and wanted to charge me for the wifi. He wanted charge me but then did a bait and switch so he and the barman could watch the fight. He put me on the hospital bed but at least I could lay flat. They placed me in the hospital for 20 USDs and 60 NADs.

7AM I didn't want to wait at the reception.  It just seemed like a bad idea or perhaps I just wanted to try my luck on hitching a ride at the lodge nearby. It didn't look like anyone was at the camp. I went to the lodge and asked around. Finally, the reception said there was Greg, who said he would give me a ride yesterday.  I ran into his Korean clients, who agreed to take me as long as Greg okayed it.

8AM Greg was not happy that I discussed this with his clients. I told him I was asking everyone and I didn't know that it would offend him. He made it difficult by saying his manager didn't like it. I offered money and basically begged him to call his manager.  He reluctantly did and to my surprise, the female manager said okay without even requiring a plea.
1PM We arrived at Windhoek. Greg wanted a 100 NADs tip and took me to the Cardboard Box Guesthouse.  They didn't have any clue as to how to get to Maun, Botswana without hitchiking or pay 5000 NADs at least.
3PM I finally found a one way flight for under 200 USD to Maun tomorrow morning at 8:15AM. This was great as it saves me probably 1 day.  Now I am buying time with money. I realized that this was a possibility and finally reluctantly accepted it.
5PM I had dinner (62 NADs) for 40 kapana beef and some drink called oshikundu, which was a traditional Namibian drink (10 NADs).  The beef was pretty good. The place is called Xwama Cultural Restaurant, catered to foreigners.  But oshikundu is not that great, something that reminds me of sour milk taste. I spoke to a man Wilson, who said it was normal for man to have multiple girlfriends. We had a good talk.  He told me about his desires to move to the states or Europe to start an occupational therapy, social service programs.  It sounded like he was having a lot of difficulties getting a demand for his knowledge

7PM He gave me a ride home and I hung out with some travelers and locals at the bar. I just had a coke.
