7AM I woke up to go rent a car from Hertz. I had to take the hotel shuttle because they wouldn't pick me up and I had to be sent to their location off site to the airport. I wasted an hour with them trying to get the car because they claimed not receiving the email reservation even when I showed them my email. They agreed to do it separate from Hertz but then said they needed time to verify my passport. After one of the manager waived this requirement, she wanted a Chinese license, which I never had anyway.
9:30AM I cut my losses. 神舟 was nice enough to send me back to 川港. One of the receptionist helped me order a Didi since I couldn't get it to work without a Chinese credit card. It worked out to be just 110 CNY for 1 and half hour of driving to 都江堰 panda base. 钟婵娟 was there to pick me up. I didn't have to pay to hug the one and half year old panda.
11:30AM I asked to be same driver to drive me to 青城山 for 40 CNY. The student ticket is 45 CNY. I hiked up the mountain and reached the peak in an hour and half. I took a boat across the small lake half way which may have save me only 2 minutes. I took the cable car up and down for 60 CNY. I met a young man on the cable car and he bought me a cucumber for 3 CNY. We walked pretty fast and made summit.
1:30PM A 38 year old woman overheard our conversation to go to 都江堰. We then all shared a car to it by calling a friend of the driver this morning. He was waiting down there for 30 minutes. We paid him 50 CNY.
2PM We reached 都江堰. To be honest, it was quite boring. It had a couple of old bridges and that was about it. We got out at about 3:30PM. By this time, the driver was back and he drove us to 犀浦 for 120 CNY total, including the 10 CNY highway toll.
3:30PM We arrived at 犀浦 and then took the subway to 宽窄巷子 after one transfer. It was three renovated streets, not very different from those you see everywhere else. I had my ears picked for 60 CNY and had a fish tofu before heading to 大龙火锅. It was not that spicy.
7PM I had to go at this point but couldn't find any taxis. Instead, I took the subway to 太平原, which was the closest stop to the airport. I heard their airport subway will open next year. I then took the taxi to 川港 to pick up my luggage. The driver waived the extra tax to the region since I was just picking up my luggage. There is no such a tax if you were going directly to the airport.
8:02PM I arrived 45 minutes prior to departure. The lounge here are pretty terrible. I didn't even show them my Priority Pass. I took a couple of snacks and boarded for Shanghai.
